Q: Why rent with Discount Self Storage?
A: We have the lowest self storage prices in the Harrisburg area. We also guarantee to beat any local advertised price.

Q: Do you offer special discounts?
A:Discount Self Storage offers a few different discounts to brand new tenants only. Call us at (717) 233-3800 to find out about our discounts.

Q: Can a unit be reserved in advance?
A: Yes. You can call our manager to reserve a unit or reserve a unit on our website homepage.

Q: Do you rent units on a month to month basis or do I need to sign a lease?
A: You can rent a unit on a month to month basis but you still need to sign a lease.

Q: If I move out in the middle of my 30 day term, do I get a refund?
A: We do not prorate the rent or issue refunds.

Q: If I sign a lease for six months or a year, do you offer a discount?
A: If you want to sign a long term lease and pay in advance we will offer you a special discount. Please keep in mind that if you move out early we do not prorate the rent. Call the manager for special pricing.

Q: Can I pay in advance for my unit?
A: You can definitely pay your rent in advance.

Q: Can I rent in person, over the phone or via email?
A: When renting a unit we prefer you to come by to fill out the information sheet and sign the lease. For special circumstances you may be able to rent a unit if you have access to the internet and scanner. You can make a reservation by email, phone or on our website.

Q: What kind of documents do you need to rent?
A: You need an ID card. If you are storing a vehicle you will need additional information so please contact the manager at (717) 233-3800.

Q: Do you require insurance on a unit?
A: We do not require you to take insurance but we highly suggest you do.

Q: Do you accept major credit cards?
A: We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover.

Services / Security

Q: Do you offer climate controlled units?
A: We do not have climate controlled units.

Q: Is your building air conditioned?
A: Our building is not air conditioned.

Q: Do you supply the lock for my unit?
A: We do not supply the lock but we do have locks for purchase.

Q: What kind of security do you have?
A: We have security cameras and gate key pad access.

Q: Can anyone enter Discount Self Storage or do you need a PIN number?
A: We give each tenant a pin # when signing the lease so that you can access the facility.

Q: Do you offer RV/boat/car/motorcycle parking?
A: Yes – depending on the size of the vehicle. Please contact our manager.

Q: Do you offer services for both residential and commercial use?
A: Yes.

Q: What size moving trucks can enter your facility?
A: For the first floor a 20ft moving truck less than 12ft high. If your unit is on the 2nd floor only a 10ft box, less than 10ft high.

Q: Do you have handcarts I can use to move in?
A: We have handcarts that you can borrow when moving in.

Sizing

Q: How do I figure out how much storage space to rent?
A: Visit our size estimator page. You can also visit our facility to look at our different sizes and discuss what you will be storing with our manager.

Q: What sizes do you have?
A: We have many different sizes from small lockers to 17×25 units. Some examples are 5×5, 10×10, 10×20, 10×25. We also have warehouse space and spaces set aside for indoor and outdoor parking.

A: Dauphin County.

Q: What major highways or cross streets are closest to you?
A: 81 and 83 are the main arteries. We are between Market and Paxton St off Cameron in Harrisburg.

Q: When is my rent due?
A: Rent is DUE on the anniversary date of signing your lease.

Q: How do I pay my monthly rent?
A: You can pay your rent via credit card, money order, or personal check. You can also set up an online account to pay your rent. The easiest method is to set your unit up on automatic payments via credit card.

Q: How often can I access my unit?
A: You can access your unit 7 days a week from 6:00am – 9:00pm with your pin code. If you don’t have your pin code you will need to come by during normal business hours and speak with the manager.
Hours of access may change so always double check with the manger.

Q: How much notice do you require for a move out?
A: We ask that you give us a couple of days notice or at least tell us on the day you move out.

Q: If I lose my PIN number what do I do?
A: Come by our office during normal business hours with a copy of your id.

Q: Who do I call in case of an emergency after hours?
A: Call (717) 233-3800 and leave a message if the phone is not answered right way.

Other

Q: What does on-site manager mean?
A: An on-site manager is a person who manages daily operations and is on the premises.

Q: When is an on site manager available?
A: Our on site manager hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Our Saturday hours are 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Manager’s hours may change so always double check with the manger.
